Faces Of...

Faces Of... is conceptually and at times compositionally inspired by Oswaldo Guayasamín's series Rostros de América (Faces of America). These pieces grew out of Higgs's observations of the horrors of emergent Fascist competitive authoritarianism in the United States.

Each one he attempts a unique composition or evolutionary composition, bringing forth his jazz roots, and emotions of belonging to a diaspora and family that has experienced these horrors before, and reflecting on their regeneration in 21st-century America.
